The tour of this historic house began with a 12-minute video , which provided a very interesting historical backdrop for the region; this house, and its original owner. Our guide for the remainder of the tour was Megan. She did a wonderful job of providing details concerning the house and its period furnishings (note: this house does not contain any... More

I personally loved our tour of this house. I loved the aspect online of saying it was haunted and getting a sense of curiosity out of why that idea had been concocted. Great back story. Loved the video they played, and I usually hate background videos. Our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable but not boring. Absolutely gorgeous woodwork. Beautiful... More

This beautiful 1856 home is well worth seeing. It was the 4th of July and, we got a special treat that day as it was their ice cream social on the grounds with activities for all. The municipal band was awesome and played patriotic songs as wonderful desserts and homemade ice cream filled table, after table. Ladies in gorgeous Victorian... More

We really enjoyed the tour and the tour guide, Cindy, who was dressed in "period costume". This home is beautiful, speaking to the history of the Ham family, as well as the city of Dubuque. Although there was a camp going on, which prevented us from seeing all of the buildings, Cindy offered her own unique perspective from personal study... More

So glad we stopped to tour this home. Emily was our tour guide. She was very interesting to listen to. Very informative and she loves her job! It was a very hot day, and surprisingly the house was cool! We viewed a short 10 min video on Mathias Ham, really needed to know this information to appreciate the rest of... More

We bought our tickets at the Mississippi River Museum and saved $2 each so if you are wanting to save money that is the way to go. Our tour started with a short video about Mathias Ham and the area, followed by a tour of the mansion and the property. Our guides were very informative and interactive. There is a... More

You have to be into history to enjoy this. A nice touch was the tour guides being dressed in period clothing. The house holds a lot of very interesting historical items.

We are locals and had not been here since we were kids. We decided to go check out this site again as we had passes with the AZA through the Mississippi River Museum. The tour guides are dressed in clothing appropriate for the time period. The tour was very interesting to us, including our 10- and 15-year-old boys, but I... More
