Even though I do not attend church I have always appreciated the architecture and beauty of houses of worship this church is simply gorgeous and worth getting out of your car and going inside. It's humbling and it's a good reminder that we humans are such small creatures in this universe.

Regardless of your religious views or preferences, EVERYONE should be impressed by the shear beauty and detail of the sanctuary. Absolutely stunning. Trust me, if you are anywhere close to Dyersville (not a lot of other attractions around which I found) take the time to visit - a half hour will be more than enough time - and you will... More

This church is a hidden gem. Never would I expect to find such a stunning place of worship in a small town in Iowa. The stained glass windows were beautiful. The ornate wood work and paintings on the ceiling and throughout were breathtaking. The detail in the architecture is incredible. This is a must stop when visiting Dyersville!

None of us are baseball fans, so we skipped the fabled Field of Dreams and instead visited the Basilica. It was stunningly beautiful! The front door was open, so we got see the inside. Ornate woodwork, gold leaf, stained glass windows, unbelievable altar. Just wonderful. Probably best suited for us older folks;-). I don't think young children would find it... More

An impressive Bascilica in small town USA. The St Francis Bascilica in Dyersville is beautiful. Not the grandeur you would find in a European city but none the less magnificent. Located at the bottom of the main street it is the highlight of the town. Inside is beautiful. Unfortunately whilst I was there there were several local ladies inside who... More

This is beautiful from out side from miles away we saw it for years going to Dubuque and Wisconsin when we came back to visit friends and family from that town . Glad to see the inside in Sept 2012 at a local Iowa wedding we came back to see. The inside is so what can we say worth your... More

What a great building this is from the outside. We did not go inside but admired the beauty of this place from outside.

We attended Mass on Saturday evening. Brought back memories of the church pre Vatican II. Tons of gold leaf. Absoulutely beautiful, a real joy to be experienced.

This church is absolutely stunning. You can currently go inside the side door anytime between 7 am and 8 pm, daily. (Check their website to confirm that times haven't changed!) It's very rare to find a church that is actually open outside of service or mass hours, and I was surprised to find that out. The architecture and details inside... More

Reportedly the townspeople took money from their pockets and built this basilica and they should be proud. The twin spires can be seen for miles and the church has 65 or so stained glass windows. All they need now is the Pope to visit.
