I wanted to take the day off and drive over to Iowa. I decided to visit Waubonsie and take a few photographs. This is a great time of year to drive the scenic bluffs. There were only a few folks using the park so one could hear the sounds as well as seeing the beauty of the park. I didn't... More

It's about 10 miles east of I-29. Nice campground with electric hookups and nice bath houses with showers. Not too many larger sites. We are 26ft and there weren't too many sites that would fit bigger RV's. At $16 a night, this was a real bargain.

This park is located along the Loess Hills. It has some nice picnic areas and a few miles of hiking trails. I didn't camp although there is a campground. I couldn't find out much about the trails when I got there and found just one sign board with a diagram of the trails located near the lodge.

There's a beautiful scenic overlook you can walk up to while staying here. The only downside is the shower house does not open until April 15th. If it had been open I would have rated it higher. We paid about 15 dollars for the night. There's a truck stop about 6 miles down the road.

We were married at the Scenic Overlook and had our reception at the Washawtee Lodge in Waubonsie on June 20, 2015. It was a lovely venue and Matthew Moles was so helpfu to us as we planned. Everything was just as we wanted it. The Washawtee Lodge is a wonderful venue for a wedding reception. We can't say enough good... More

The overlook and picnic area alone is worth a visit The view is especially beautiful in the fall. I really love the hiking trails and since Iowa doesn't charge an entrance fee for its state parks you get to enjoy about 7 miles of trails for free. There is a charge, however, if you choose to camp or bring your... More

We live about an hour from the park so this was a nice overnight getaway for my husband and I to celebrate my birthday recently. I used to live only 20 miles from the park but at the time only drove past it, regretfully. The park is set amidst the beautiful wooded Loess Hills and rolling farm fields of southwest... More

This is a great place to start your Loess Hill hiking expeditions. I was at the Pisgah area sometime ago and have never seen this area before fell in love with the surroundings. In my opinion, a great place to see and hike. It truly is a great place to see and hike. This place has over 1990 acres to... More
