The Mormon Handcart Site was an interesting find while walking some of the back trails in Coralville/Iowa City. We learned a lot about the Mormon's trek across Iowa.

As I leave the Coralville Mall area where the Cross Creek Trail starts it is a pretty trail that leads to this site. It is along the creek, in the woods all the way, and you are never far from Hwy 6 and the hustle...More

I'll be honest: we went to see what this was all about because the site name is, well, a bit odd. It's really just a nice walking path through the woods with a few signs marking significant spots and detailing the history. If it's on...More

At first it was a bit discouraging to see so many cars in the parking lot, but we managed to find a spot after a bit of searching. Our wives had a harder time because there were no pull-through spots for busses. After we figured...More

It was neat to read the signs and think what might have occurred in this land many years ago. There's really nothing remarkable about this site, but it's along a really nice paved walking/biking/running path.

This is an interesting site, where you can read about the Mormon Handcart's trials on their travels across the U.S. The trail is quite wooded, hilly, but paved.

What a choice place for a memorial telling of dedicated people just wanting to exercise their faith in God.

There is not really much to this site. It is unremarkable in every other aspect. This is more of a municipal park than a historic site.
