We were in town watching the Iowa Bulls and decided to do something tourist activities. Stop by Music Man square and took a tour of the home and museum. Before going we didn't know who Merdith Wilson was, our tour guide was a little upset with us for not knowing these details. We figured we had just spent $10 per... More

We decide not to go on tour it was a little small town and quirky. We thought we could just look at exhibition but you had to pay $10 "donation". Did not seem work it. I did like music man the musical when I was younger.

A friend and I went during the summer. It was warm, but inside the museum it felt really good!! There weren't a lot of people there (weekday, early afternoon), so that actually worked out better for us. We were able to ask questions and get answers. I really loved going through his boyhood home!!! It was such a great experience... More

We spent about two hours here. The volunteer tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed wandering through the museum, watching the 30-minute video about the production of the movie, and eating ice cream in the shop. We went through Meredith Willson's boyhood home next door, a step back to 1902.

The big part of the exhibit is a replica of main street from the Music Man movie. Very nicely done and the you can buy ice cream at the ice cream shop. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We were going to skip the movie but it was very helpful to understand the history of this home town boy. Price was... More

My two friends and I weren't sure what to expect but when someone uses the term "Music Man" we felt we had to go. It doesn't open until 1:00pm which was disappointing because it didn't really fit with our schedule. We wanted to see Willson's home which was at the end of the tour. We couldn't get out of the... There's a lot of good to say about this place, but unfortunately the people make it not-so-good. First the good - the house is lovely and the lady who gave that tour did a good job. The main building with the city street is cool, too, but somehow seems very empty. The museum bit is pretty good too with some... More

First, this is a museum about the life of meridith wilson and admission covers the price of a tour of his boyhood home, which is next door to the museum. In addition to learning more about this amazing figure in American music history there are variety vintage of band instruments on display, including those played by a variety of American... More

Music Man Square is a neat little place to visit. Doesn't take long to walk around, but its a very interesting place, and is a great tribute to Meredith Wilson, and part of the history of Mason City.

The Music Man is my all-time favorite movie and I'd been hoping to make it out there for some time. I had the impression that it was sort of a living history re-creating river city. Sadly no. Our docent did seem to know quite a bit and was very informative. However the Main Street is mostly storefront windows with a... More
