Great views of the river but they could cut out some dead timber to improve the views even more. Trails were well marked and very pretty.

This park sits atop the bluff named Pikes Peak. The picnic grounds are well groomed and the sights from the overlook are superior. You stand above the confluence of the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers. Many trails lead to other overlooks and a substantial group of...More

We liked Pikes Peak State Park so much from our camping stay several years ago that we planned our recent trip so we could do it again. The camp host was friendly and greeted us. We actually picked the exact camp site that we stayed...More

Beautiful view from the overlook. Camping is inexpensive & clean! Cell service is limited at time & not far from Effigy Mounds as well as crossing the river to Wisconsin.

My review is two-fold: The park itself is beautiful! The trails are well maintained, park store is a nice addition and the overlook areas offer a stunning view. The nearby town offers some nice eating and drink establishments. The campground is clean but the sites...More

This park is a must see, if you are anywhere near the area. There are no parking fees, and no entrance fee. Not only are there miles of hiking trails, and beautiful overlooks, there is also a campground. Just an easy stroll from the parking...More

This park and the views of the Mississippi River shouldn't be missed. It is my favorite place in the state of Iowa to visit.

Beautiful view of the Mississippi River from the lookout. Beautiful flowers in the planters and seemed well taken care of. Only spent a short time there but were very pleased. Would definitely recommend a visit and bring your camera!

Traveling through the Wilds of Eastern Iowa, my wife and I were referred here by some friends. The views of the river are amazing. The mounds are nice too! Be sure to hike to Bridal Veil Falls.

We were walking through there a week after. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Downed trees but the walkways were cleaned up.

of course you can drive to pikes peak, there is no "hiking" to get to the overlook, more of a 2 minute walk from the parking lot to the overlook.
