I don't think I would make a special trip across the island to visit Rose Blanche, but if you're in the area, try to plan a little extra time heading to or from the ferry to see the lighthouse. If you like NL history or lighthouses, you'll enjoy this quick stop. The drive is nice as well!

On our way south from GMNP to Port-aux-Basques we arrived at the tourist bureau office in the late afternoon and asked them what we could do whilst waiting for the 11:45 PM ferry to North Sydney. They suggested we take the drive out to Rose Blanche to see the lighthouse. It was actually pretty easy to get to - head... More

This lighthouse is well worth seeing, even if it's a little off the beaten path. The trail is not difficult and signs explain the history of ship wreaks and the brave people who saved lives. The views are gorgeous!

My husband and I were in Rose Blanch for 13 days, we visited the lighthouse about 6 times. We saw it with varying weather conditions...rain, fog, glorious sunshine, high winds, it was different every time. The ladies in the gift shop were lovely and friendly and the items for sale were unique and varied. The trail and observation lookouts were... More

This is about a 45 minute drive from Port Aux Basque. There is a $6 charge to get in. The site is gorgeous when the sun is out which it was when we were there. ( I think everything in Newfoundland looked awesome in the sun). It is a stone lighthouse that has been redone. It is "cute" inside. The... More

This unique lighthouse is a must-see. The hike to it and around it will be some of the most beautiful and unique scenery you will see in Newfoundland!

What a lovely several hours we spent driving along the granite coast. Gorgeous scenery along the narrow, worn road. The walk to the lighthouse was delightful, with all the vegetation identified with labels along the way. The ocean below the huge rocky coastline provided me with many beautiful photos after I enjoyed just sitting for a time, breathing the salty... More

It is located a short beautiful drive from Port Aux Basque. Last time I saw the lighthouse it was not much more than a pile of rubble. The restoration was expertly done and the building is a great attraction. Short trail walk provides great views of a small village in the distance (Petites) which had residents relocated some years ago.... More

While I personally think all lighthouses are worth visiting, what makes this one special is that it was essentially in ruins except for the light tower until a group undertook to restore it. There's a video as part of the visit the explains the restoration and apparently about 80% of the lighthouse rocks had fallen and were strewn about the... More

We drove to the parking lot where there is also a small but interesting shop and washrooms. There are several paths to the lighthouse which is a reconstruction of the original lighthouse. One can enter and explore the rooms as they were originally. Along the paths there are some signs telling about the history of the lighthouse and also some... More
