We were visiting our daughter and she took us by this museum. It Is on base and the army has taken care to preserve artifacts from as far back as the establishment of the base. It is arranged by year and starts at the beginning up until the current mission of the base. It starts with an excellent video on... More

We came to the museum expecting to spend about an hour. We could have used about 2 hours, but unfortunately for us, it was closing time after an hour. Great early military history and a recent addition of a Lewis & Clark exhibit. Allow about 30 minutes to get an access pass to the Fort from the Visitor Center. After... More

Very disappointing: we were refused entrance to the fort in a rather rude way because we're from Europe so don't have an US id (which as we all know is a guarantee for safety and good behavior - not). Maybe some warning in advance on a site would be nice? And no guys, it doesn't always work that way: in... More

good overview of history. Very well organized museum featuring an overview of history related to Fort Leavenworth. Good place to spend 30-60 minutes casually looking at the displays

Visited the museum while on business here at the Garrison. Superb!! I attended the US Army Command and General Staff College here at Fort Leavenworth, years ago. The Museum was smaller then, but played an integral role in my life even then. The saying then was "This is the Best year of your Life!" Hooah!!

The Frontier Army Museum is really a great place to spend a couple of hours. Even our 5th grader enjoyed it. From the artifacts to the information provided about the Westward expansion and even Fort Leavenworth you can't help but find yourself intrigued. It was really interesting and is a definite must when touring the installation. Certainly worth your time!

Although this is a rather interesting museum, because it is located on the grounds of an active military base, it takes awhile to receive clearance into this mini-village. Having not been there before, I was stopped by security at the gates for several ID's and was sent to the visitor center, which is located nearby in a small mobile home.... More

Having retired from the U.S. Army this was a must see on our way through Kansas. It was great seeing all the history of the U.S. Calvary from it's inception to now. I served in the 2nd ACR while stationed in Germany in 1984-87. They had a lot of very nice display of uniforms and equipment used throughout the years.... More

Not really there fault, were from Minnesota, which doesn't have the enhanced Drivers license. With out that you need. Two forms of id a license and a passport. Wish they would make this known since we made a one hour drive to get there. They have there rules and I respect that, I just wish there was more info on... More
