No doubt the rest of the museum is amazing, but since I spent two hours with the rattlesnakes, I can't personally attest to anything but the excellence of that particular exhibit and the knowledge of the curator, herpetologist Curtis Schmidt, who took the time to...More

I-70 Hayes Kansas has one of the best Natural History Museums (DINO'S) in the world not counting the Natural History Museum in London England. To truly understand the formation of the current U.S.A. one should pick up the Book "Oceans of Kansas Paleontology". While there...More

Highlight of this museum are the collections gathered by two generations of dinosaur hunters. Especially the 15 ft fossil of one fish dinosaur showing a recently swallowed lunch.

This museum is a favorite, and anytime a trip across Kansas puts us in proximity to Hays when the museum is open (and we can spare the time), I like to stop for a visit. What’s not to love? There’s over 100,000 square feet of...More

I visited the Sternberg Museum twice over a six month period (July and December of 2017) with my six year-old. The museum is cool: the main exhibit is a dome with animatronic dinosaurs. This is easily the coolest part of the museum. When we first...More
