This is a great place to take a walk up a big hill. The path zig zags back and forth and the view is beautiful once you get to the top. Unfortunately, it has been closed for a few years.

Great hike up a steep path to the top. Historic atomic 280mm gun at the top with other historic weapons along the trail. Great view of Fort Riley, but the area is currently closed due to security concerns.

Really wanted to hike up, but still listed as closed but very visible at exit 301 I believe on the top of South hill. Led to interesting conversation with two grade school boys.

Not sure why the park is closed... I've also driven thru Jct City for many years and this time decided to pull off and make the hike with my son. Unfortunately, the barriers are still up. This is a cool piece of history that needs...More

I have driven by this place all my life (46) years and looked out the window at it. I always just thought it was a cannon that perched outside the base for looks and a park. I knew nothing about it till the wife wanted...More

Closed until further notice by Junction City. at the request of Ft. Riley officials, due to elevated force protection level. The parking lot is blocked and the trail is flagged closed.

This is a really cool bit of history and it's very accessible. The cannon is visible from I-70 (exit 300 I think), take the exit and there is a parking area. The cannon is an easy hike/walk, maybe 10-15 minutes max. I just thought it...More

My boys had a great time climbing the hill up to the cannon and then they got to climb all over it! It's a great view up there!

Don't follow the map it gives you. It takes you to south park. It's off of the Ft. Riley exit before you get to junction city on the south side.
