This is a must see if going thru Kansas. This is not what you expect to see in Kansas, a complete surprise. You must drive down a dirt road for 7 miles, but worth the drive. Be prepared no bathrooms or water.

This was nice nice surprise. Nothing else around this area. You will drive about 7 miles on a rock/dirt road to get to the monument. What a site. Really cool. The formations are really striking! There is no charge for this attraction. Cows and bulls...More

The extra off the main highway trip was well worth it. The sight of these formations in the middle of nowhere was amazing. Be ready to walk around & take pictures.

This is an out of the way stop, but very much worth it. The roads out there are not all paved, but in good condition. If you look closely you can see fossils and shells in the rocks themselves. Would be very pretty at sunrise...More

Wow!! Such a cool stop! The kids loved it, and I had always wanted to see it. We looked for fossils & found a couple of good specimens. No facilities, so be prepared to go before or hold it until you find a bathroom! :)...More

If you are driving in the vicinity of these rocks, it is definitely worth a detour to check it out. In the middle of nowhere on private property, but the owner allows visitors to the Rocks.

7 miles down a dirt road and you get to see some pretty cool stuff. It was a half hour away from our trip but worth it.

Part of a tour of western Kansas geology we drove through the Monument Rocks on our way to other locations. Pictures DO NOT do this area justice. It really needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate the significance of this formation.

The formations remind you of a time long long ago. The road was passable in our car. We enjoyed the cows checking us out too. Take lots of pictures.

We came down 83 from Oakley, and there are two ways to get there which are both dirt roads. One turns off towards the east and comes in from the north to the monuments and one comes in from the south. We came in from the... More

It depends on road conditions. If they're wet and slick, I would recommend an SUV or 4 wheel drive. Most likely, though, you'd be ok in a regular car.
