Stopped by too late for the visitor center and too early to see stars, but really enjoyed the scenery and views. Would love to camp out one clear night there. Had hoped to see some bison but maybe on another visit.

First of all, the price is right! We would have loved to walk the trails, but traveling with my 90 year old mother, we were happy to have the option to take the bus. One benefit of the bus is that the driver serves as a tour guide. We did call early in the week to make sure there was... More

Just an hour south of Manhattan. This prairie has lots of walking trails. Within a mile walk from the entrance we saw a herd of bison on the range. A great place to go out in the country and explore. Also at this site are farms houses and school house to explore all though we did not on this trip.

We went hiking several times here in the course of two days. During the day we encounter a small group of bison, very up close and personal. That night we returned for some great stargazing. Since the grass is still short in April, you don't get the full sound experience of the wind blowing the long grasses, but beautiful non-the-less.... More

Only about 1.5 hours from Wichita where we were visiting family. Nice drive. The ranch buildings are fairly well maintained. Park office and smallish exhibit area that packs a lot of important information about the Midwest prairie grass lands, buffalo herds, years of mis-management, and the current attempts to preserve the beauty and wildlife. Here's something I wrote sitting on... More

On touring the Flint Hills, my husband and I stopped at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. There is a very nice visitor's center there with great displays and an informational video about the area. The park ranger is very knowledgable and happy to share information with the guests. The property includes a massive estate of a former rancher that you... More

Due to time constraints didn't hike any of the longer trails, just a short loop near the house. The house and barn were open and interesting. The Ranger in the visitor center was well informed and friendly. This place is definitely worth the stop.

Great place to hang out for the day and do some hiking, and there was also a home and some farm buildings to look at. Just be careful on a hike if it's really hot outside, there's not much cover. Also, there's a great chance you won't see any bison if they're on the move.

This is a great adventure for history and wildlife lovers. We hiked up to see the bison herd and were not disappointed. We were warned not to get too close, but it is fun to be able to walk to where they are and not be behind an enclosure. They seemed accustomed to seeing people with cameras. It was a... More

We arrived late in the day - just before the buildings closed. But the trails are well marked and were a great break from a long day of driving. Spring Hill Farm and Ranch is fascinating and beautiful. Great audio tour available with your cell phone, and grounds are well maintained. Bison were grazing along the trail. Will go back... More
