One of the better distilleries, this tour includes a comprehensive video presentation which includes the history and their process. Being in the warehouse with the barrels all around was impressive, and to imagine them being locked down during prohibition was fun. The tasting was nice, included yummy bourbon balls but we were disappointed we couldn't purchase the spirits we love... More

I am a big fan of the products Buffalo Trace makes, so it was great to see the entire process from grain to barrel that their bourbon undergoes. Jeff was an excellent guide and extremely knowledgeable and informative. The hard hat tour really went into the science and details behind how bourbon was made and is a must do for... More

I live in Kentucky and have toured all the major distilleries. This is my favorite. The grounds are beautiful, the tour is informative, and it's an all around good time. Don't miss this. Even if you're a teetotaler (ha) the history and educational experience is too good to miss.

Actual tour is similar to other bourbon trail tours. But a big disappointment is they sell almost none of what they distill. The store is woefully short of actual bourbon. In this regard it falls way short of expectations and other distillery tours. The clerks at front desk were downright evasive about why. Eventually said they did not want to... More

The five-star rating is so warranted. We could not have imagined a better visit to our first distillery. Of the six distilleries we visited on our trip to the Louisville area this May, it was clearly the highlight. It was the most dog-friendly of the six and our dog was even permitted on the tour, except for the bottling shed.... More

First of all, the tour is free. (Unlike other many other distilleries that charge for their tours.) The guide did a great job. Learned some interesting history tidbits. Great tour for small or large groups. The tasting at the end had some good samples to compare.

Grest tour. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining. He spoke of running around the Distillery when he was just kid (his father was an employee then), and even showed us pictures of his dad and the owners back then. I wish I can remember his name. The Distillery is the oldest continually operating one in Kentucky, dating back... More

This was my first time at any distillery, let alone Buffalo Trace. My friends and I were there for a bachelor party and took the free tour not knowing what to expect. Our guide was friendly (that southern charm), funny and very knowledgeable on the history of the facility and the process of making bourbon. His personality and genuine enthusiasm... More

Buffalo Trace is set on the Kentucky River and has been producing bourbon since the Revolutionary War. A trip there offers insight into the the bourbon industry in 2017 as well as a glimpse into the past. The setting is beautiful with many opportunities for photographs. The tours are excellent. I would take the walk up tour and at least... More

Of the many Kentucky bourbon distillery tours we've taken, the Buffalo Trace Hard Hat Tour is my favorite so far. The Maker's Mark tour was a close second, but you really only scratch the surface on the Maker's tour. On the Hard Hat tour, you get an up close and personal, behind-the-scenes look at the various stages of distillation. In... More
