About
Dong Zen Temple is located in Jenjarom within the Kuala Langat district of Selangor state. Dong Zen Temple is founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun in 1994 and serves as the headquarters of Fo Guang Shan Malaysia. Literally translated in Chinese, “Dong” means “East” and “Zen” means “The tranquil mind”. As a phrase, it means “the tranquil mind in the east”, representing the hub of a Buddhist centre in the South East Region. Mdm. Khenh Kian Hong (1934-2005) first donated 2 acres of land to FGS Buddhist Monastery for building of a temple in Malaysia. Later, with the help of Mdm. Khenh, the neighbouring owners agreed to sell their land to FGS. The founder of FGS, Ven. Master Hsing Yun, personally officiated the development ceremony on 24 November 1989, it was developed in 1994 and commenced usage in 1996. Now the temple has created a new avenue for tourism and it also acts as an important cultural and educational center.

It is a nice and great place to visit during Chinese New Year. There are plenty of parking lots provided to visitors and the food serve here is meatless. The light decorations is quite cool and fascinating during the night. You would find dificulty to take a picture during the night. There is still a lot of place to cover that I couldn't covered.

Many things to see, pretty lights at nighttime, nice attraction and take pictures to. Food court might only be available during Chinese/lunar new year. Food was great and affordable.

回头是岸 - such profound proverbs on the main gate.
This temple is lineage is from Taiwan where Fo Guang Shang originated, there's also a branch in Singapore.
The compound is quite huge, with manmade waterfall, ponds, statues, steps, bridges and pagoda.
It is a nice place to wonder around, feel calm and relaxing.

The temple popularly known as the FGS Dong Zen Buddhist Temple at Jenjarom is one of Selangor's lesser known attractions but well worth a visit.
Fo Guang Shan Malaysia is one of the many branches of Fo Guang Shan (“FGS”) throughout the world. FGS in Chinese literally means “the Mountain of Buddha’s Light”. FGS is founded by Ven Master Hsing Yun.
The temple, surrounded by luscious green gardens, is a popular stop for tourists to snap photographs and admire the well-designed landscaped gardens.
Every Chinese New Year the temple puts on a Lantern & Flora Festival and the whole place is transformed into a glittering wonderland of red lanterns, digital lights, illuminated gardens and colourful displays for kids and adults.
The vegetarian food sold inside the temple is simply delicious!

The best ways to get there is by car (location able to found in Waze) which is approximate one hour distance from KL city.
If you plan to go by public transport, the best way is to take KTM train from KL Sentral or TBS and stop at Klang KTM station. After reached Klang KTM station, could take Grab or Uber to FGS Dong Zen which cost about RM25~30.

Really nice place to immerse yourself in buddhist art and culture. The place also houses a buddhist relic and exhibition halls showing some buddhist/zen arts and calligraphy!

Went there for day trip with family. Have a very beautiful garden called Lumbini Garden, many statues and the landscape very nice. A quiet, calm place to walk around around, enjoying the beauty of the landscape especially the orchid garden.

The Fo Guang Shan Temple is located at Jenjarom, a sleepy small town in Banting, Selangor. The temple is situated away from the main Klang-Banting trunk road, but can be easily located as there are numerous signboards that leads to it. The compound of the temple is vast, peaceful and serene, with several meditation halls, an exhibition hall, and a big hall with a huge Buddha statue.
I have been to this temple on numerous occasion. On normal days, the temple is a sign of peacefulness and calmness amid beautiful and well maintained garden landscape. Several Chinese deities statue can be seen in the compound.
During Chinese New Year period, there is usually a lantern festival during the night, and this temple would be a hive of business and activities, as throngs of people from all walks of life would make a visit to see the beautiful and colourful lanterns on display.
The kaleidoscope of colourful and brightly lit lanterns and lights would turn the whole area into a fairyland. It's a fantastic and wonderful experience to stroll around to take in all the sights and sounds. There would be several stalls selling vegetarian food and drinks in the compound of the temple.

Hi all,
we are a family of four with 11 and 8 year old sons visiting Kuala Lumpur from 22nd to 25th may for four days. Would like to know if we can visit Batu caves, Pewter factory, Textile factory and Fo Guang Dong Zen Temple. Kindly suggest how all the above mentioned places should be covered in a day so that we are in the right place at the right time. Is there anything else on the way to visit?
As of now the plan is to go to Batu caves in the morning, Pewter factory, Textile factory and Zen temple in the evening. We are staying in Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur.
your help is very much appreciated. :)

You can do Batu Caves in the morning and be done in 1-2 hours depending on how fast you make it up the 272 stairs. I would advise you to go in the morning as the afternoon sun can be quite merciless.
After lunch you can make your way to the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre (I assume that is what you mean by pewter factory). I am not sure which textile factory you are referring to though so I can't gauge the travelling time.
As for the temple, please bear in mind the temple is not in KL. It is in a different town called Jenjarom which is about 1 hour plus drive from KL City one way. So if you plan to visit the temple in the evening then you will have to factor in at least 2 hours traveling time to go there and come back.
