My husband and I visited Fort Harrodsburg on a friday. No one was there except us.It was a good walk back in history. We had not been there in over 20 years .It is really run down now .It needs a lot of TLC. Bees were everywhere. If your allergic don't go. But on the plus side the mansion museum it's nice .

This fort is pleasant to walk and full of history. We only wish the museum had been open when we were there. I guess we'll just have to return.

The museum was just opened today April 1 for the season so I was glad we caught that although they said the costumed reenactors don't start again for the summer season until later in April. It was a nice little hike around the fort and buildings. Check out the "hair work" wreath in the second floor of the museum! Ewww.... More

As there is a lot of history here about the old fort and people who was here. Rogers Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition, planned his trip here. Abe Lincoln's parents was married at this site in a old cabin. There is the biggest Osage orange tree in existence there. Enjoyed the stop and history

I visited on a Sunday morning and, while the museum was closed, the fort was open. It was an interesting walk around the grounds and there is a cemetery on the west side, near the pedestrian entrance, that I found intriguing. An excellent reminder of how graves were "marked" 200 years ago. Certainly worth the visit and I would have... More

This is a rebuilt fort that has many historical artifacts located throughout the area. Do not miss the osage orange tree. It is a good place to have a family picnic.

We visited the fort on a weekday in early November 2016 and it was nice walking through the old pioneer cemetery and the log buildings, but we were disappointed that the museum was closed. We did go into the small church-like structure (on the grounds leading up to the fort) housing the tiny log cabin where Abraham Lincoln's parents were... More

We visited this summer and watched the Indians and Early Settements shoot out and we loved it. They had so many thing that our country lived with, what they made and clothing they wore had so much that we had learned in school, just came to life!!

The fort was waling distance from the Beaumont Inn. It was a restored fort with well informed and interesting re-creators as blacksmiths, gunsmiths, weavers, etc. They knew their history and enjoyed sharing it. Even the gift shop had some interesting KY made crafts

The fort is small in size but huge in interest. It is an extremely accurate portrayal of the fort as it is maybe the only fort that had written plans. Most historical forts were planned by drawings in the dirt. When this fort was planned and built a writer was there and actually wrote down the plans and the reasons... More
