This is a small out of the way museum that we appreciated very much. Going to the museum from downtown Lexington provided views of many scenic horse farms. Collection includes jewelry, designs, and art of George W Headley, including small ornate jewelry pieces and bibelots. Several unique large doll houses are also on display. The grounds include a large rose... More

You have to see it to believe. Exhibits change periodically but the Shell House stays the same and is most unique experience.

This small but wonderful museum is one of a kind. It has collections of Mr. Headly's jewels, Mary Lou Whitney's fabulous doll house, featured art exhibits, a nice gift shop and classes for children.

I thought I'd seen everything the town has to offer as I searched online for attractions in Lexington ( as I do whenever I accompany my husband on his business trips), but to my delight, three sites I hadn't noticed before came up: Boone Station, The Loudon House, and Headly-Whitney Museum. Enjoying the drive out Old Frankfort Pike and the... More

This small museum houses an eclectic collection of jewelry, designs using gemstones and found objects, a crackerjack collection of primarily equine photography and found astonishing doll houses, all in a lovely park-like setting. Calm, quiet and intriguing, the museum is an exciting location for exploration and relaxation. The grounds are spectacular and visitors are invited to walk, savor and enjoy.... More

I was fortunate to be the lunch guest of Mr. Headley; not because of who I am, but because of my travel companion. Lunch served by a butler in a tuxedo (very awkward for me-as I'm a simple guy). Anyway, the museum is in a beautiful country setting, a lovely short drive from downtown Lexington. Unfortunately, a number of years... More
