The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is on the U.S. National Register of Historical Places. The massive five story hospital was built in 1926 and sits atop Waverly Hill today. It housed 400 patients and was one of the largest facilities of its kind. Waverly served the community through decades of the worse TB outbreak in the country. After closing in 1961, due to the introduction of life saving antibiotics, the hospital reopened in 1962 as "Woodhaven Geriatric Center" which operated the facility until 1982 when it was closed by the state. Ravaged by years of neglect, the present owners have breathed new life into the building by conducting tours though the facility in effort to restore it to a useful asset for the community once again. Waverly has earned her place as one of the most haunted places in the country and has been host to many films and TV shows. During tour season (March – August) Waverly offers several options of visiting. *2hr. Introductory Paranormal Tour which includes a 20 film then a walk through the building.*2hr. Historical walk through tour held one Sunday each month*Public or Private overnight sessions for ghost hunting enthusiasts. For all tour or overnight reservations or inquiries contact the office open daily 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday.

The building is enormous and a bit intimidating. So much went on here. Due to its age and condition, some parts are pretty dusty and moldy....it might be different now due to renovations that have gone on since I was here last. The atmosphere is unforgettable.....go!

We visited Waverly last weekend for their nighttime paranormal tour. It was lots of fun, spooky, and offered great historical info about the property. If you visit, definitely visit the "death tunnel" and see how bodies were transported up and down the hill out of patients' sight. So fascinating!

The tour lasted about 2 hours. I strongly recommend a small flashlight (I used my cell phone flash light and wished I had brought one). You also will want shoes that are comfortable. You will be climbing 5 flights of stairs and some of the areas are uneven. Our tour guide was very informative, she told factual stories about the... More

We did the 2hr tour and had a wonderful tour guide. He is a security guard for the property and a semi retired paranormal investigator. He had plenty of stories and experiences to share and cuts all the BS out of the legends and fake stories. There is a line when arriving at the gate. Tickets said the tour was... More

This was very cool and exciting. Are tour guide Dale was awesome and very informative. Best value for any tour i have ever been on. This is not intended to be a haunted house but a real hospital with paranormal activity reported. I do indeed believe after doing this tour. Lots of walking and wet on a raining day but... More

My husband and 3 friends joined me for the opening all night ghost hunt 2017 season. The staff was friendly and professional, and we were allowed to ghost hunt on our own, which is what I prefer and how we get our best evidence. We got all kinds of pictures of ghosts, orbs, and shadow figures. We didn't make it... More

Our tour guide, Chelsea, was really great. The tour was definitely spooky and thought-provoking. We heard detailed stories about ghosts that wandered the halls and TB patients who had stayed there. We went up to the roof, which was pretty neat on a clear night. Allow some time to get out to Waverly Hills, as it is a little difficult... More

Good place for a visit. The prices were actually reasonable and they didn't try to take us for every penny possible. I plan to return again this year. It was crazy waiting in line to park, but that's only because of all the idiots out driving on the roads

A visit to Waverly Hills in the daytime can be an interesting outing. Very unique setting and history to the place. Not sure if I could handle one of the nighttime visits.

This place was fascinating. From the history to the architecture. The staff was very nice. The rules were simple. I hope to go back again for another overnight adventure.
