The Village is so well enacted it allows you step back to a time long gone by, without even realizing it! Beautiful grounds, pathways, flowers, gardens and homes belie the Acadian's torment of the past. From the "fisherman" mending nets (who we talked to for...More

This “living history” museum gives you some idea of how people lived 100+ years ago in his area where most French Canadiens were driven from their homes in the 1750s. Some stayed, some returned, and the people who work here are from families that have...More

A Canadian Historic Site presenting replicas of houses, workshops, lobster fishermen and farmers. To hear of the treatment of the neutral French settlers here in the mid 1750s was traumatic for them and the eviction of peoples from one place to the next is quite...More

I want to thank you for taking the time to review our site and for your comments. The Acadian did go through a tragic period, and this is not forgotten, but the determination and resilience of the Acadian is the focus of the experience that...More

We took a very long drive from Granville Beach, near Annapolis Royal, to visit this museum. We are glad we did. The costumed interpreters in 2 houses, blacksmith shop, and boat shop were so informative and interesting. In the blacksmith shop we watched a nail...More

This was a real treat as we chatted with extremely friendly local people. The site is several homes from the mid to late eighteen hundreds.

I was about “Acadianed-out” by the time we got to the Village, and a bit put-off by the refusal to translate the name onto English (even on the English-language website), and considering skipping it. Actually, if you didn’t know it was supposed to be Acadian,...More

This "living" museum is excellent. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. Was served tea and biscuits by the ladies and watched/recorded the blacksmith making a nail that I could take as a souvenir. This is a great place to bring your family. Highly, highly recommend a...More

I want to thank you for the review and that you enjoyed our blueberry festival, one of 4 festivals that we have during the summer. In June, we have the rhubarb festival, July is the strawberry one and, in September, we have the harvest festival.

The Village is a small but very charming recreation of an Acadian farming and fishing community. The location is quintessential Acadian Nova Scotia. The Village has several festivals during the warmer months and they are great, We had lunch in the Cafe before touring the...More

This was a great place to take our young kids - 4 and 7. The guides were engaging and interactive. Just enough things to touch and watch and just the right level of interest. Highly recommend.
