Despite Mark Twain’s remark, this old building is a repository of Louisiana political history. The different rooms provide themes of the founding of the city, the armies and countries that fought over it.

The old state capital has a beautiful staircase. There is a giant hill out front which is fun for kids to roll down

This is a beautiful building near the Mississippi river. The inside is gorgeous. Having travelled all over Europe, I wasn't sure why I was seeing a castle in this location, so naturally I had to check it out!

Great staircase & good exhibitions (when we visited there was a collection of photos of Martin Luther King Jr) Good to learn a bit more about the history of Baton Rouge & the man who was Huey Long

It is located next Missippi river. History explains about our governers. How they run the political system. I found it very interesting. Also garden and the surroundings of the old capital is beatiful.

The old state capital building & grounds are breathtaking. A beautiful piece of history. The stain d glass dome is worth the trip alone. Beautiful. There are interesting displays throughout on buildings ( and State’s) history.

My husband and I were in Baton Rouge on our New Orleans trip. We drove over to Baton Rouge to see the capital building. We went over to the old capital, which should been open, but we couldn't get in. The outside looked beautiful, though.
