Every plantation is different in a way. The guided tour of this plantation was our least favorite only because it did not talk about slave life at all. Yet, the grounds of this plantation we found to be the most beautiful. We also caught a...More

I read an unfavorable review, and found it so biased and unfair. I have been on a tour of Houmas House and found the tour guides to be professional and historically correct. In fact checked on some facts they told and found they were all correct.

First off, the grounds and house on this plantation are gorgeous. The house is beautifully appointed. The tour however was exactly what I feared when going on a 'plantation tour'. For the context of this review, I am mixed asian and white and from Texas....More

No, we did not start at New Orleans. We came directly here because the Great River Road where this is located has been described as one of the greatest roads in America. Our tour guide, Stephanie, knew her history, and because it was unseasonably cold...More
