My first Boy Scout hike in 1960. Five miler. Fascinated with this park. Couple years later, entire family "camped" in the very first cabins that were built at the park. A few years later, brought my steady girlfriend out to the park. Married her, and...More

Overall rating is 3 stars with the Park 5 and the camp sites about a zero. Remind me not to stay here again, please. Sites in old loop where we were at are a mishmash of angles and tightly packed on the sides, behind and...More

we had a nice relaxing weekend camping in a tent. the area was very clean, although we had a few issues with loud campers around us and people arriving at 10pm and setting up tents while we were trying to sleep.

This park inspired me to start writing reviews again lol. I was expecting great things based on all the 4/5 star reviews but unfortunately my experience greatly differs from most visitors. First off the park is really small. Not a huge deal but just an...More

Stunning scenery, nice trails. Quintessential Louisiana. Tent area a bit crowded but not too bad. Read some complaints on the bathrooms, I've seen people bring their trash into them and leave it, I've seen groups of pre teens go in an 'toilet paper' them. Camp...More

We will be traveling through Lake Charles in mid-January in our RV & thinking of spending two or so nights in the area. This will be our first visit to this area. Other than gambling, which we're not really into, is the Lake Charles area an interesting place to visit. Things to see/do? We like to get out & move after driving so like outdoor activities like biking, hiking, etc. but also enjoy a good craft beer or a fun happy hour. Any info or suggestions you might provide would be greatly appreciated.
