Lots of fun with grands

The pics and scenery with kids was fun. The gators were awesome, and showed how fast they can move. The whole family had a blast.

I never knew this was here untill I read about ti on trip advisor. We took the trip over to see it and was quite surprised at the beauty even thoughyou are right near the interstate. Had a picnic lunch and walked a little.

This is one of the most beautiful natural areas in the South Louisiana area. Foot trails and the cabins are just wonderful. The Cabins are rented first come first served or reserved. We did not stay in a cabin this was a one day look and see trip. It was very much enjoyed and it is such a Natural location.... More

Great place. I stayed in one of the two tent sites. Knew it would be an interesting stay when the clerk showing me on the map started circling a site that was off all the roads. Took the main trailhead about half way, stopped due to parts of the path being closed. Lots of up close swamps.

I love to fish here. Always something to see whether it's a turtle, beaver or some type of beautiful bird

The section off Hwy I-59 exit 11 (Pearl River Turnaround,) has been a Spring and Summertime favorite of mine since discovering it just a few years ago. The boardwalk there was recently extended, allowing for greater access through the area. Great for wildlife and for birding. There are also picnic tables under a shaded pavilion. Such a pretty place!

Came here looking for the Honey Island Swamp Monster, and spent a fun day driving around the Refuge and exploring the backroads of the swamp. We did "hike" the Holmes Bayou Trail, but it's really not much and I wouldn't recommend heading back there. The scenery is just as nice from the dirt roads. Just don't get lost!

About on hour out of New Orleans, it's a beautiful relaxing area that's not too busy at all with people. You can take in the natural beauty and off you're lucky see some wild animals.

We love the scenery and relaxing time we spend at the Refuge. We live close by and go often. We have seen gators and lot of birds, raccoons and squirrels! It is a great place to visit and wile away some time on the scenic walk or to just sit on the docks and fish. Easy access and so serene!... More
