Nice boat trip out, and then the island we were on was lovely and peaceful. The enactment of the lighthouse keepers family was great. Would go again

we took a private boat from Spruce Point Inn and visited Burnt Island and the lighthouse. The island is beautiful and the history of the light house is interesting, especially for kids. A great excursion if you are staying in Boothbay!

light houses that are open to the public have become over run with tourists who thinks they are playgrounds. makes it impossible to capture the serenity of the historic light houses. shameful attempt to raise a few dollars.

I was able to get a nice photo of this from the Bennie Alice on the way to Cabbage Island. The Captain even took a moment to turn the boat so everyone could see it.

Do you have 3 or 4 hours to spare? If you have a kayak, you really should kayak over and explore. Not just the grounds. Being able to go up in the lighthouse, is a treat all by itself. Seeing the inside of the house...More

Yes there is a Ferry to the island. But there are only curtain days for the tour. I think that we went on a Tuesday.
