Loved this museum, it is very well curated and really moves you and makes you feel the horror and nonsense of war. Do visit it if in Guernika

If you don't understand Basque, you will definitely need the translation booklet which is given to you at Reception. The museum is free on Sunday, which is good to know and it was quiet when we visited mid morning. The smaller reproduction of Picasso's work...More

Lovely reception and very nice rooms. Modern. Bags not allowed in, but there are free lockers. All labels in Spanish & Basque, but a printed Engish guide is provided. This starts out very well, but then becomes incomprehensible. Experience of the bombing in 1937 was...More

This museum provides great insight into the 1937 tragedy at Gernika, along with exhibits devoted to other conflicts. It is very moving.

Wonderful presentations of the horrors committed by German planes on the small town in 1937; some survivors tell their own stories on that day,,,,

I think the idea about a museum that tells the story of Gernika in the Spanish Civil War is really interesting. The museum also has spaces devoted to that story - in Spanish and Basque...! but most energy is spent on letting people think about...More

We stopped in Gernika on a Sunday so took advantage of free entry to this museum. It was something of an eclectic mix of peace, city history and an account of the bombing in 1937. The latter was my real interest but the other parts...More
