This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster biology, Maine lobster fisheries, commercial aspects of the fishery and last but not least, some local history. Fun for the whole family. The Rugosa is a real wooden lobster boat out on the Gulf of Maine and in terms of information shared by the tour guide, it is pretty comprehensive material for children under 4 years of age. Very young children can be a distraction to the rest of the guests aboard the boat, enjoying the presentation.

This was a fun and educational excursion! My kids(ages 7 and 9) really enjoyed banding the lobster claws. I would recommend taking a jacket as the wind coming off the water is chilly.

We just spent a terrific hour and a half aboard the Rugosa. The captain and mate were friendly, very informative and gave us a smooth ride. We took the adults-only 3:30 cruise. It was BYO -- bring wine, beer, or whatever. We now are true...More

We usually start the week before Memorial Day. This year it was the 23rd. Weather is a little sketchy early in the season so be aware of weather forecasts in the area.
