I got lost several times, the trail markings could be much better. The major problem is that there are tributary trails that lead to private land and residences and are not marked but as someone who has never been there before all you have is...More

If you find yourself in Lewiston or Auburn Maine and have a little free time, the Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary is a little jewel. While it calls itself a bird sanctuary I found very few birds. Lots of evidence of Pileated Woodpeckers but no sighting. What...More

A variety of walking, hiking,, or snowshoe trails. No motorized vehicles or dogs allowed. A very peaceful place for the entire family. A great place to explore nature!

Thorncrag is a peaceful hiking/birding/nature area only minutes from the bustling city of Lewiston. A good parking area and ample trails and trail markings give the solitary escape seeker or the family gang on an outing plenty of room to explore and enjoy the woods.

This is a great place in the heart of the city for a nice nature walk. Just remember to bring the sun block and the bug spray. The bugs are crazy insane. Lots of birds to see if your quiet. Trails are well marked.
