Since 1973, the Acadia Repertory Theatre has made its home in the rustic Masonic Hall in Somesville, on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. We are surrounded by the wonders of Acadia National Park, which comprises over half of the island. Mountains, pine trees, lakes and ocean all provide a perfect setting for a summer theatre company. In our quaint performance space, which seats 148, we have presented an impressive mix of comedies, dramas, mysteries and children's theatre. The relaxed and informal atmosphere here at the theatre provides the perfect ending to a day spent touring the delights of Mt. Desert Island. Each season we select a blend of plays which we hope will delight your whole family. Please join us here in Somesville and make LIVE THEATRE a part of your summer in Maine!

The play was a spoof on Agatha Christie done by experienced actors. The English accents were believable and the play was full of litle twists and turns. The story line was creditable and was not overcome by the send up of Ms. Christie. Mary Paola as Dorothy was very convincing. Her final scene was completely captivating. For a high school... More

This show was fantastic! If we were staying longer, we would go see it again! These ladies entertained until there had every single person laughing. That's never easy. We were at a Broadway show one week ago, and we were just as entertained with this performance. Audience participation is a plus. Leave fuss-buckets at home, or maybe they will be... More

The show is rather dark and confusing given that actors often portray different roles. The actors were all very good, but the play was not all that engaging. I prefer to see something more lighthearted while on vacation and this was not it. We were sitting in the padded raised seats so we could see well, but the theater has... More

We were looking for something different to do one evening and saw information on this company. They were doing "Sherlock Homes & the Suicide Club". When we went to get out tickets the front office staff (also part of the play) went out of her way to ensure we had the best seat possible of the remaining seats. She took... More

We saw a production of Sherlock Holmes and the Suicide Club. This was one of my son's first memorable experiences with a theatre production, and he was completely engrossed from the first scene. Small theatre, quality cast, very enjoyable evening.

While staying in Southwest Harbor we took in the last matinee of the season at the Rep - "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventures of the Suicide Club." We loved it. Summer theatre is such a traditional experience while on vacation. The troupe did an outstanding job, the sight lines were good, the chairs roomy and despite a packed theatre, we... More

The biggest disappointment in this otherwise entertaining play was the hopelessly miscast Sherlock. He did not have the authority or presence required of an actor to play this part . His lack of voice projection affected the overall enjoyment level of the play The people near us also had the same complaint. The Actor portraying Sherlock's brother Mycroft, should have played... Sylvia is now playing at Acadia Rep. My wife and I have been visiting MDI every summer for the last 15 years and Acadia Rep is always on our agenda. Sylvia is played superbly by all actors - a wonderful play about how a dog can bring 2 people to understand each other better. But the marvelous aspect of the... More

We have visited the Acadia Repertory Theatre several times and have found it to be very enjoyable! On this visit we saw, Wait Until Dark, and it was a great show! Last year we saw Red, another great performance. Andrew and Cheryl are friendly and welcoming, the shows are lively and compelling, and the performers are engaging and memorable. This... More
