Whatever you're looking for in Portland, food, drink, antiques, friendly people, you'll find it on Congress Street; I would suggest veering of course toward the Westin.

This street is lively with shops of all kinds, as well as street vendors and performances. We unexpectedly saw a fire show as well as got to go to an art fair. Great place for restaurants and coffee shops as well.
