Gritty McDuff’s, Maine’s Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty’s Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff’s Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

Wonderful bartender

We stopped in for a beer on our trip and found the establishment to be nice. There are two floors so if the upper is packed head downstairs for a cozy spot near the fermentation tank. The bartender we had was very kind and attentive.

Just a great pub

Went here looking for a casual fun night out. The open seating plan is fun as everyone is in a good mood and makes for a fun atmosphere.

Beer cheese!

Fun hang out

We love going to Gritty's with the family. It is a relaxing, local environment that is inviting...especially in the winter time. Their food is consistent but the beer is really why we go.

Best fish and chips in Maine

If you crave perfect, crispy and lightly salted chips (French fries) and scrumptious fish that has been battered in Cajun seasonings and fired to a crispy perfection, then you need to visit Gritty's. This pub definitely has the best fish and chips I've ever tasted....More

Beats Expectations

Wonderful Atmosphere

My wife and I have been several times and it is a very favorite for her. The food is always good, the service very good and the atmosphere is pure Portland Old Port- the best of the Old Port.

Happy Hour needs to be a bit happier $$
