We were visiting friends and happened upon this place and just had to go inside. We keep bees (in Virginia) so were thrilled to learn they make traditional (dry), sweet, apple, lavender and blueberry. We sampled them all and bought a case. We toasted our...More

Touring Portland and tired of walking aimlessly around Portland looking at all the tourist crap? Head over and visit these guys! Sit back and taste the drink of the gods! They have a solid variety and the staff was a good bunch of dudes.

I was really impressed with the different types of Mead they make here. The tasting was very inexpensive and the server extremely knowledgeable.

Amazing experience! I did a tasting with a couple friends and each drink was phenomenal! I am a huge fan of the lavender mead, the iced tea, and the drink with jalapeño! Definitely worth a visit!

I am a beekeeper and a mead-maker... I'm also pretty picky about meads -- some of them are too cloyingly sweet, yet dry meads are often astoundingly bad. In general, I think meads are best in the range of semi-sweet to semi-dry, and that's a...More

So friendly and welcoming. Tried all the very lovely meads and sparkles available. Have always loved the lavender lemon mead. Worth the stop. And right next to a BUNCH of distilleries and breweries!

We had a larger party and had a great experience at Maine Mead Works. They are expanding and had a larger table for us! The bartender was very helpful in discussing the mead and other things for us to do while in the area.

We were fortunate to meet the owners in July 2016 when we stopped by. Started talking about mead, and they told us how they started, and gave a tour of the facility. Really good mead, smooth drinking and no sedimentation. Wonderful folks who really know...More

Really knowledgeable bar tender about local beverage products, bees and honey. The sampling is terrific value for $7 and we tasted many meads, mainly dry not sweet at all. Nice space, nice experience. Did you know city bees make more honey than country bees?
