Very old theater that has been carefully and beautifully restored. My wife and I saw Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience and it was fantastic. The acoustics are great. Very reasonable specials ($3 buds) in the full bars that are located in many areas during some shows. If you can catch a show here when in Portland you will be impressed.

Went to the Sunday Matinee Beatles Night show. To start, temperature outside 39°, inside maybe 50°. Too cheap to turn on the heat, I guess that's the only way they can pull in a profit- AT THE CUSTOMERS EXPENSE. And then, a totally disrespectful audience and ushers didn't enforce children running around and people talking loudly at the bar which... More

Since we were going to be in Portland for a special event, we were pleased to find that a band we have been wanting to see for some time was booked here during our visit! The theatre was very easy to locate and we found a parking garage nearby as were several good restaurants. As an older theatre, the building... More

I recently went to see Old Crow Medicine Show at the State Theater. What a great venue! It is spacious, has beautiful architectural details, and is easy to navigate. I will definitely return for other shows.

Saturday night comedian Eddie Izzard perfomed. He kept the audience, at the State Theatre, laughing. He spoke and mimed on unforgettable, historical people such as Charles I and how loyalist Oliver Cromwell and Charles I didn't jibe. After Charles' death, England had no monarch. The first and only time in England's history this happened. The main language spoken by English... More

Watch out for summer shows. No a/c so it gets unpleasantly hot sometimes. Seen The Decemberists there twice. Toad The Wet Sprocket once. Love the place. Just not in summer.

Comedian Lisa Lampanelli on March 4th. Reasonably priced tickets and drinks, with fast & friendly bar service at this venue. Not a bad seat in the house. I highly recommend this medium-sized venue for a concert or comedy act!

Visited the State Theatre for the first time with my daughter and niece to see their favorite band last weekend. This place is a great, intimate setting for up and coming bands, there really isn't a bad seat in the place. Granted, we had reserved seating for this event (meaning the seats were installed in the "pit" area, which normally... More

On a recent adventure for a concert at the State Theater, I found myself intrigues with not only the show I went to see, but also the building itself. Although the outside of the building is old and undesirable from current architectural standards, you have to be able to look beyond the shadow and look at the elegance of an... More

Beautiful old theater. Headed straight to balcony based on reviews for seating. Sound quality poor for this tribute/benefit concert but it's likely to be better if musicians take time for sound check. Would definitely go again.
