This is a nice old theatre in which to see and hear a concert. It is in downtown Portland, and there are lots of restaurants, as well as the excellent Portland Museum of Art nearby. It opened in 1929 as a movie theatre, went downhill...More

my sister, my mother and I recently traveled to Portland to hear Lucius on their most recent tour, in support of their acoustic album. I was a little nervous because sometimes with acoustic music, the sound isn't always mixed well, and depending on the venue,...More

This is an intimate venue with great acoustics- this is an old building that has not been fully restored to its former glory but still a great place to see a concert- saw Josh Ritter here and would go back again!

The State is a cool old theater and often hosts some really good shows. The classic architecture is interesting but it does not have the facilities like a more contemporary venue. Seating is very basic and small, visibility is generally pretty decent unless everyone is...More

My bad review emanates from my experience buying tickets for the Fleet Foxes via Box Office Ticket Center. Way back when the show was announced, this company of ticket reselling scamsters popped up on the State Theater website. I assumed they were legitimate because they...More

Very old theater that has been carefully and beautifully restored. My wife and I saw Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience and it was fantastic. The acoustics are great. Very reasonable specials ($3 buds) in the full bars that are located in many areas during some...More

Went to the Sunday Matinee Beatles Night show. To start, temperature outside 39°, inside maybe 50°. Too cheap to turn on the heat, I guess that's the only way they can pull in a profit- AT THE CUSTOMERS EXPENSE. And then, a totally disrespectful audience...More

There is no onsite parking. There is on-street parking in the area if you can find it. However, on High street, there is a parking garage. It cost us $20.00 for 3 hours.
