GA only admission with a crowd of drunks elbowing for spots they reserved in their mind an hour ago. Just a hot mess of Maine. Plenty of better places to see live music in Portland. If you want a drink fast there’s plenty of bars...More

Hopefully they will have a sound person available. Saw trampled by turtles. Could not make out any words or notes. We moved to 3 different seats and it was the same. Would like a refund.

The seating in the balcony was build for children and small adults. The seats are narrow and there is no leg room. We saw tall men who either had to stand or sit on the stairs because there is no way their legs would have...More

We were in Portland for part of our tour of Cape Cod. I spotted Apocalypta were playing at the venue. We went to buy tickets at about 7pm as we kept missing the box office opening. We confused the girl in the office by asking...More

The State gets some good shows. Unfortunately, the staff are either jerks or paid to act that way. You get frisked at the door by someone who yells at you if you didn't remove a cough drop from your pocket. They are like the TSA...More

This is a nice old theatre in which to see and hear a concert. It is in downtown Portland, and there are lots of restaurants, as well as the excellent Portland Museum of Art nearby. It opened in 1929 as a movie theatre, went downhill...More

my sister, my mother and I recently traveled to Portland to hear Lucius on their most recent tour, in support of their acoustic album. I was a little nervous because sometimes with acoustic music, the sound isn't always mixed well, and depending on the venue,...More

This is an intimate venue with great acoustics- this is an old building that has not been fully restored to its former glory but still a great place to see a concert- saw Josh Ritter here and would go back again!

The State is a cool old theater and often hosts some really good shows. The classic architecture is interesting but it does not have the facilities like a more contemporary venue. Seating is very basic and small, visibility is generally pretty decent unless everyone is...More

There is no onsite parking. There is on-street parking in the area if you can find it. However, on High street, there is a parking garage. It cost us $20.00 for 3 hours.
