At Saddleback, we've taken a different road from other large resorts. From our natural terrain and our wilderness environment to how the mountain was developed and is operated, almost everything about Saddleback is different. It's a magnificent mountain with genuine values and a gentle soul. It's the way Alpine skiing and riding used to be. Classic New England ski terrain with trails that follow the contours. Snow-covered conifers over most of the mountain create a different feel with rime-frosted trees at the lower elevations and snow ghosts at the upper. High elevation alpine experience with snowfields. At 4120 ft elevation, Saddleback is only one of seven ski mountains in New England with atop lift elevation over 4000 feet. Our vertical is greater than several well-known big mountain resorts. Kennebago Steeps! is the largest steep skiing and riding facility in the East. Saddleback has extensive glades like other ski areas but only Saddleback has Casablanca Glades & Chutes which provide endless ways down through Paradise.

Saddleback is one of our favorite places to visit. Very sad that the mountain is not open for skiing. Hopefully their will be a buyer for this spectacular place. It was an excellent family mountain like no other. The lodge is great and all of the staff were always friendly. We have been recently and it is sad to see... More

Though the mountain itself is lovely, there really isn't much going on. We were told that the ski resort is for sale and that the owner isn't allowing it to be used so that the whole economy of the area has been affected. We drove to the lodge but saw almost no one though there were beautiful homes and condos,... More

Saddle back mtn is one of the most gorgeous viewing. Winter time is the BEST time if you like snow. The mountain is one of the higher peaks in Maine. Just have to experience this for yourself. Love this place.

We wanted to see the base area at Saddleback. It was exceptionally quiet there. There were some nice views on the ride but no activity at all at the base this summer.

Four adult friends boarded the Oquossoc Lady to join one other couple and the owner/guide/pilot Kevin Sinnott on a pristine, clear day for a full hour tour of Rangeley Lake. We saw an eagle as well as a loon pair and their baby and learned a variety of their calls. Much historical information filled the time as we rounded the... More

Saddleback in summer is wonderful. Quiet solitude. The Skiing however is now "defunct". The area closed in the fall of 2014 and has not reopened. Talk of a new buyer earlier this year went by the wayboard as bills continue to pile up. Apparently the place was running the establishment with a huge deficit. And with the lack of snow... More

Beautiful views! Skiing was fun - although I hadn't skied in quite some time. Came for a work outing and we all had fun.

This ski area is magical--views to forever, family friendly, high high high trails, wonderful staff, well-priced tickets and just a wonderful experience in the heights of Maine.

All 4 seasons, this is a great stop for everyone. I love coming for the Fall Foilage and the summer. The curvy ride to this area is so fun to drive. Pleanty of viewing stops along the way. A Must see!

Although more difficult to get to than other areas in Maine, Saddleback is well worth the trip. There is an extensive beginner area with a very gentle grade that is served by its own quad. There are many good blue groomers served by the (slow) Rangeley double and great steeps and glades served by the Kennebago quad. The ski school... More
