Very educational, very entertaining. I didn't realize how little I knew about lighthouses! We had a short guided tour which really brought everything to life for us.

I've been to the National Lighthouse Museum in Staten Island NY (which is quite nice) and this one was surprisingly larger... even with a narrower focus! But that narrow focus (on Maine lighthouses) is incredibly well curated, with lots of exhibits and original artifacts. Friendly...More

There is so much to learn about lighthouses and the lights that light them and the people who tended them. We arrived with only a half hour until closing and it was not enough time. It's a fascinating museum.

The museum is on the small side - but it is very nice. Great display of lenses for the lighthouses. My kids enjoyed the 2 videos.

My wife is a lighthouse "nut". She was hesitant at first to visit. Once we did visit, she was quite impressed with all the info we observed in the museum. Quite a bit of info about the lenses among other things.

Full range of exhibits related to lighthouses, Coast Guard, lifesaving service etc. Light house area has many lenses with working lights to explain how the optics work to focus and magnify the light.
