Another beautiful lighthouse!

Spring Point Ledge Light is another gorgeous lighthouse in Portland, ME. There is a parking lot nearby and a rock jetty to walk out to the lighthouse for a closer look. The day I... read more

Small light house that can be seen from Shore but is not open to the public. The Bug Light House is just blocks North and you can walk right up to it.

Spring Point Ledge Light is another gorgeous lighthouse in Portland, ME. There is a parking lot nearby and a rock jetty to walk out to the lighthouse for a closer look. The day I was there, it was extremely cold and windy, so I took pictures from the shore. I would love to go back when it is a little... More

We took a tour of the area light houses with so many in the Portland and South Portland area. We thought this light house was interesting.

I am fortunate to live in the neighborhood near Spring Point Light. The plateau overlooking the ledge and lighthouse provides one of the most magical harbor and ocean views anywhere. And walking across the ledge to the lighthouse is always inspiring. Just watch your step. The nearby gift shop is well run and sells great gifts, many that are Maine-made,... More

We stopped here because we saw it on the map. It was nice. Not many amenities close by. Parking is somewhat limited. If you are looking for a place to be contemplative this is a good spot. Good views around and sounds will get you in the mood. A little treacherous walking out to the actual lighthouse.

Our first trip to see a lighthouse and we loved it. Rocks to the lighthouse were a little tricky. You have to watch your steps or you could fall in the bay. Not handicap or wheelchair accessible.

It was so cool to see this lighthouse as the fog was rolling in. You can walk out to it along a 950ft breakwater. Definitely not an easy trek! It's open on weekends during the summer and you are allowed to go inside. We happened to be there in September but it was still a sight to see!

The Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse was a very memorable visit because we literally could not see it from the shore. As the others mentioned you have to navigate your way to the lighthouse over a pathway of large rocks. The gaps and uneven surfaces mean that you have to choose your path carefully. This is not for anyone with disabilities... More

Historical sight. Needs transport to get there. Has no facilities such as food, souvenir stand and restroom etc.

This is NOT a handicap friendly lighthouse. You can see it from the shore, but if you want to walk out to it, you'll have to be fairly physically fit. I'm not kidding when I say that I felt like a kid again! There is a caution sign at the beginning....take it seriously. Don't try this with flip flops or... More
