This hike is relatively short to the top — less than a mile. It climbs steeply from the Echo Lake parking area up to the Cliffs. There are 3-4 ladders on the trail too. Great rewards at the top with spectacular views of Echo Lake...More

We accidentally went on this trail (Beech Cliff Trail) from the parking lot of Echo Lake Beach Road and kept going up until we needed to climb ladders after ladders all the way to the top of the cliff. It was fun, and actually not...More

my kids really wanted to do a ladder hike while we were in acadia--we settled on this one based on great advice from our vrbo owner! our six year old handled it like a champ and had no issues with the strenuous climb. and the...More

Gradual ascent and beautiful beach to relax on the other side! The second half of the trail is closed so plan on turning around and coming back the fire road.

Climbing the cliffs can be tough (especially on a hot day like today) but climbing the ladders and the view from the top makes it worth it. Don't recommend this trail for people hiking with dogs as there are 4 ladders to climb.

We read the reviews of Beech Cliff Trail and had to do it. The iron ladder portions made it so much fun and the view of Echo Lake from the top was simply incredible. One of our favorite hikes from our trip.

The views of Echo Lake and its beach are stunning from the cliffs. You can also see Somes Sound and beyond from here. We took some of our best pictures in Acadia from this trail. It is not a long hike, but does climb in...More

A bit outside of the more heavily used hikes in Acadia - this short hike (about 45 minutes) takes you to some beautiful views and a nice flat rock summit perfect for a picnic break. There are other options for other trails that could make...More
