A Saturday night watching "A Walk in the Woods" was a great way to spend an evening in Stonington. The house was fairly full, and it looks like they will be screening relatively first run or recent run movies over the next several weeks.

I went to see a movie while I was on vacation. The Opera House is a restored theater with the original seats from the 1930's. There is a pile of extra cushions in the back of the theater for use if you prefer an more comfortable sit. They also sell beer and wine for your viewing enjoyment. So get comfortable,... More

I saw the incomparable Derrick Semler perform at this venue and it was a wonderful experience. Opera House Arts is a small club with an intimate setting that made two hours of great blues music just fly by. OHA is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and interns who love their jobs and it really shines through in the... More

This is how cinemas used to be. Every Fri, Sat and Sundays they screen good movies so worth checking the schedule in advance on their website. No need to book in the off season. And snacks, popcorn etc all available at the kiosk. A great local initiative. NB the old seats are a little hard but free cushions are given... More

We saw a movie here... the venue is delightful and offbeat, and very welcoming and comfortable. It's beautifully restored, and I would recommend a visit to anyone who's in the area!!!

While spending a mini-vacation for a weekend in Stonington, my husband and I saw the movie "Girl Gone" here. This restored playhouse is unique and charming, and we enjoyed watching a first-run movie here. One suggestion: let your patrons know that the popcorn has no salt on it! We settled into our seats and had to go back to the... More

The very opposite of a chain movie theater, in all the best ways. Funky theater, delightful refreshments and, of course, offbeat entertainment. Kudos to Stonington for rescuing a true gem and putting it to good use.

The 2014 summer season so far at the Opera House has been incredibly entertaining. From Shakespeare + Zombies to a moving film about the final days of a local artist, OHA captures the best that Maine theatre, music, and arts has to offer.
