Even when the weather isn't great, this refuge is gorgeous. The place we stayed was on the edge of the refuge, and we enjoyed the peace and beauty every evening.

A very low key area with sea marshes and self guided tours. Spent a leisurely couple of hours relaxing. Would have stayed longer but the temp was unseasonably warm.

Great educational walk. You can bring your dog. Enjoy the views and remember your camera!! We did use bug spray - even in August -

Went here while on vacation in Wells and was pleasantly surprised this was in town. There is not much parking so I could see this being a problem because outside the gate is a busy street with no parking. Also, the restrooms had no sinks...More

A bird watchers paradise with beautiful views of the marsh, beach, and meandering river. The large trees and wild plants are just amazing.

This self guided 1 mile loop was just beautiful. We loved the vibrant colors of the marshlands - a true testament to Rachel Carson.

The welcome center was not open the day we were there, but we took the nature walk through the Refuge. A nice easy walk and beautiful scenery.

This refuge offers a beautiful 40min-60min walk. The views are gorgeous and the path is well-kept. Keep your eyes out for some birds and tiny wildlife creatures. We came across turkey and chipmunks.

The NWR is in wells Maine. There are three sites within 5 miles. Sea vu, wells beach resort, moody beach rv camping. We didn't get to go but went to ogunquit Maine. I'm sure some around there as well.
