Short Sands is more like Hampton to me, dirty, overcrowded, people who don't know how to be respectful of nature. I'll take long sands anyday

We love this beach! A few things to keep in mind. It gets busy pretty quickly because it's small so get there early. Also the parking only takes quarters. There's not a coin machine so bring lots of change. There's also a great play ground...More

Bring quarters and shop in all the local shops and go to the arcade. There's lots of cute restaurants and the beach is nice. In august it was too crowded you couldn't see one inch of sand.

Small beach set in a cove. August water warms up. Need to come early 9:00am to get a spot. Family friendly playground for young children. Bowling alley many gift shops and places to eat. Out door shower on beach to rinse off. Restrooms modern.

This beach is small (easy to keep an eye on the kiddos), next to a playground, ice cream/candy shop, arcade, old fashioned bowling and shops. There is something for everyone. The parking is limited and the sand is very Maine - cold, hard and dark.

A little rocky but the beach was great. Parking is right near the beach...go early to get a spot. Water was freezing but it's in Maine so I expected that. Waves are huge. Do to the short length of the beach I was able to...More
