The folks behind the desk could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Each room has its own theme. Glass, tires, fire department, geological history, etc. It is worth the stop. There is an elevator to take you to the 2nd floor.

Free but be kind a eave a donation! Lots of displays of local history and "goings on" in the area over the years. Well laid out with friendly and helpful staff. Nice for an hour or so.

From Glassware to Whittling, B&O Railroad to the C&O Canal, Kelly Tires to The National Road it is all here. They have a very nice collection of local brewery and distillery items. I also enjoyed the archeology and wildlife exhibits.

Small, but very nice and interesting museum. There is so much history in Cumberland I was surprised I could not find a larger museum.

Docent advised, "You can see the exhibits in any order you like!" He was correct. Loved the exhibit on breweries and distilleries of the region, the most. Great pieces on the tire industry and on a local artist of note.

The museum has a variety of well designed exhibits that highlight different facets of Allegany County history. Many of the exhibits focus on industries that were once prevalent which fits well with the industrial heritage of the area. It is definitely worth spending an hour so there.

Housed in a gorgeous 1930’s building that was once the Court House and old Post Office, the Allegany Museum is quite impressive. This for me was the best attraction in Cumberland. Professionally done, well-researched and properly presented to the public, it spans an entire floor of the building. I was impressed with the architectural details of the entry, the ornate... More

Interesting history of the area & cool artifacts. The dedication to Kelly is a little overboard but I do hear they're expanding the lower level!

An excellent place to hold a wedding reception or similar event, it will give your out of town guests a taste of Cumberland.
