It's a nice walk regardless of the weather. the trail is great to walk you dog and it really is not much of a work out. If you can get one of the state park information tours, you'll learn a great deal about the flora.

As we arrived at Elk Neck SP on a Saturday afternoon in August, we were shocked to see a long line of cars-stacked at the entrance and being refused entry. The maryland parks staff try to control the huge numbers of visitors. Initially, the ranger...More

Elk Neck State Park is a beautiful park. We stayed in the Elk Loop, on a site with a water view. While the site was clean, it is a little cramped and the pad is packed hard, so it was difficult to get our tent...More

We camped at elk neck state park for 1 evenings. We walked to the light house and had dinner in the town of northeast. The bathrooms were clean for a state park. We will return.

Well never been there before and it's lovely. Plenty of trees and waterways. Boats and kayaks and sailboats. Clean bathrooms and there's a store. Plenty of parking for cars and boat trailers. There are three launches and benches all along the water. Will be going...More

Great place to go for a walk while exploring along the way. What a gem, like none other that I have ever been to here in the eastern US,with the high elevation and woods so close to the bay. My son-in-law and I had decided...More

The walk was about a mile each way, and mostly shade, with gorgeous scenery. The views from the top of the bluff were fabulous. The lighthouse itself was closed but I hear it's sometimes open. A history marker and map at the top added to...More

This review is only for the lighthouse. Because of previous reviews, we made a point not to be there during peak hours and went late in the day, after supper. There were only a couple of other cars in the parking lot. The 1.6-mile round-trip...More

My family and I camp here once a year in the Wye loop. We tent camp. We love the camping spots. They are well equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. We also appreciate the bath house. Very clean! My kids enjoy the playground....More

To be honest, your best bet would be to go to the real beach at the shore.
