We spent the day in St. Michael's and decided to visit Oxford on the ferry. There were only two cars as it was mid-week and a rather dreary day. However, the views were wonderful, the trip was quick, albeit expensive at $12 per car. You can go on foot, or on a bicycle as well - if you are exploring... More

This is a great experience. You can go on foot, bike or car on the ferry. It is expensive. It connects between Oxford and Bellevue. It is a short cut to or from St. Michaels. It avoids having to do up to Easton and then back done a peninsula. Closed during the winter months.

We were the second car on the ferry, so we had a front row seat across the water. Got out of the car and enjoyed the view, a short 15 mins or so. Would have preferred that they chock iurceheels, but I guess they know when it's needed.

This is the oldest operating ferry in the United States. It only carries 7 or 8 cars. Family owned and operated the captain and her mate shared the history of the ferry and the two towns on the 15 minute crossing. If you are in the area, stop by and take the ride.

We took the ferry from St.Michaels to Oxford where we were staying. It's a small ferry I think maybe 6 cars at a time. Only takes a few minutes to cross.

The captain and her first mate were a great couple ...... we really enjoyed traveling with them. The river was beautiful that day and we're anxious to visit again soon.

The ferry between Bellevue and Oxford represents a great sneak preview of the Chesapeake Bay. The ferry only takes 6-8 cars, however, waits are rumoured to be short as the very friendly people operating the ferry are very responsive to demand. Do strike up a conversation with the ferry operators! They are very friendly, informative and knowledgable about everything and... More

We understand that this is the nation’s oldest privately operated ferry service. It runs every 20 – 30 minutes in season between Oxford and Bellevue, Maryland – a short cut to Tilghman Island from the Cambridge MD area. The ferry can carry up to 6 cars and passengers - $12 for car and driver and $1 for each passenger. A... More
