This is one of my favorite hikes in the Washington, D.C. area. It crazy rocky. Up and down over big rocks. Can't use hiking poles because you need your hands to grab the rocks as you climb about like a Billy Goat. I parked across...More

Billy Goat trail offers you a great way to spend an afternoon hiking on its challenging course. You definitely need good hiking shoes as the rocks tend to get slippery. The trails have large boulders, jagged rocks and narrow passages so you're ankles get a...More

The Billy Goat trails offer a variety of hikes in different levels, sections A, B & C. I have hiked all 3 trails and they are all scenic, enjoyable and worth the visit. You should select your trail according to your skill and conform level...More

This hike lived up up to every warning regarding its difficulty - but I would do it all over again tomorrow. The entire park is beautiful and the views of the river are spectacular. We hiked the "A" portion of the trail and found it...More

My wife, sister and brother-in-law (ages 57, 55, 55 and 48) loved this trail. If you're fit, sure of foot, and not afraid of heights, this is a great challenge that rewards you with some wonderful views of a beautiful part of the Potomac River....More

This is a great hike with beautiful views along the Potomac river. It has some true rock climbing so be prepared to be on all fours. There is a 50 ft wall at one point. I would not recommend it for anyone elderly, and dogs...More

The Billy Goat Trail is a challenging hiking trail in Great Falls Park, more a series of rocks and boulders than a "trail." The Park warns how challenging and difficult it is, but really, if you are in good shape and have reasonable balance, you'll...More

Love this place. The trail can be a challenge (rocks, etc. ) but the toe path and "boardwalk" provide options for the more casual walker. I lucked out with awesome weather. The earlier you get started, the better - for parking and for peaceful experience.

I think it's OK to wear shorts...depends more on the weather. I wouldn't worry too much about the scrambling unless your legs are very sensitive.

Thanks everyone. We did it last weekend. The rock wall had my husband and I helping my son but other than that. We were good and we had a blast.

I think you need a car to get to both Dallas international airport and Ronald Reagan Airport . Both are around 25 mins drive
