The only reason I didn't give five stars is the lack of original pieces although there were some. Tour guide was great and lives on site. Be sure to ask about any haunting experiences at the house. Donation only fees.

Just finished touring the Poplar Hill mansion...what a wonderful gem. The place is gorgeous and well maintained, but the icing on the cake was our wonderful tour guide, Sarah. She was so very knowledgeable and extended great patience with my young kids allowing them to enjoy a little slice of history.

When you pass by a gem everyday for the past 30 years and finally decide to check it out you feel like you really missed something. We on a whim went on one of their free days and were greeted by a really great docent. Who told us of the history, of this beautiful home. We were allowed upstairs and... More

walked up to the house and just opened the door. we were very warmly greeted by the older lady and given a tour of the "mansion" (it's more like a house; considered a mansion back then). at the end, they had brownies and iced tea waiting for us. there was also an older gentleman volunteer playing the banjo and giving... I received a very rude reception at the home even though I rang the bell for assistance. Even though the place wasn't open, I should have been given the benefit of the doubt, and treated with some hospitality. She left her back door open, with a sign on it saying, "ring for assistance." so naturally I rang the bell. All... More

Lovely 1700's home that survived the early fires that destroyed so much of Salisbury. Furnished to the era. decorated to the era. Lovely docents, great tour. It's Free, but I hope you'll buy a cookbook and contribute to the upkeep!

Lovely old mansion in Salisbury, MD. Tours are given twice a month. The house is in a very quiet part of town. The garden or house, would be a nice place for a wedding. Very well kept up!

Lovely example of Federal Style Architecture. Great staff. Definitely worth visiting. They also rent the facility for events and parties. It's a beautiful mansion to host a gathering

I recently had the pleasure of taking a guided tour at the Poplar hill mansion. It is set in an area of Salisbury, which homes various old homes and buildings that have much their own history. So amongst these the mansion is indeed at home. But, between these historic sights are everyday urban homes due to this the Poplar Hill... More
