Nice park, but seriously? $30.00 for parking? We are from Maine, and have traveled all over the country and have NEVER seen anything that expensive for a state park.

This is a lovely state park right in Cape Cod. There are numerous trails and ponds which makes for a nice area to walk and commune with nature. Beach areas front the lakes. It was not too busy when we were there which was nice.

I came to this park seeking a specific trail. It took me 20 minutes of driving and rooting around online to discover where I had to park. Meanwhile I pass very unhelpful signage directing me to cryptic camping sections (eg “ area b”), dumpsters, boat launches, and so on. But no trailhead directions. It’s as if this park is just one elaborate outdoor hotel. This was a frustrating experience for something so highly rated. I can find unmarked trails closer to my house. It feels like something easily improved.

We were looking for a dog friendly spot to spend the day with our hound dogs. Many places on the cape, even trails in the woods restrict dogs. This state park is fantastic! We hiked the 3 mile loop around Cliff Pond. It was a narrow trail but had numerous spots connected to little beaches for the dogs to swim or get a drink. Highly recommend if you are traveling with your dogs.

Nickerson State Park is in the middle of the cape in the township of Brewster. It's beaches are on lakes not on the ocean. A nice place to visit off season if you wish to avoid crowds

Signage within park could be better. Ask for map. Very beautiful with lots of beaches along beautiful lakes.

Bring the kids, bring yourself, bring your bikes and bring your beach equipment or just camp out. We went to bike and found the beach areas: very pristine and calm. Bike path leads to rail trail. Lots of fun for an entire family.

We took a 3 mile hike around Cliff Pond. The hike itself is not challenging. The views around the pond were great, especially as we passed other, smaller ponds. The trail was easy to follow and not crowded on a weekday. We saw a cormorant, a water snake, and an egret. A number of people were sunning on the beaches around the pond, swimming, kayaking, and sailing.

We enjoyed a hike around Cliff Pond and Little Cliff Pond during our visit to Nickerson State Park.
The trails were well marked and the views very picturesque. After our hike my fiancé set off on his bike on the Cape Cod Rail trail which is near the entrance to the park. He biked 12 miles to our next destination in Wellfleet was where I was waiting with the car.

Parking is too expensive. I just want to go for a short hike. Usually in a big park like this there are numerous entrances with free parking that one can simply walk in from, a place only the locals know.
Where can I park for free and walk into the park?
We have an upcoming camp trip book for this park. Looking at the park map it appears the park connects to Lindell Landing beach. Is there access from this park to that beach? Like a walking trail? If not what’s the best/easiest ocean beach to access here?

Nauset Beach in Orleans is the closest "Ocean" beach. Crosby Landing Beach is on Cape Cod Bay. It tends to be MUCH warmer than the ocean side and at low tide you can walk out onto "the flats" for wonderful discovery walks among the tidal pools.
Bonjour
Les couvertures sont elles fournies sinon est il possible d'en louer ?

Can you tell me if there are any sites for trailers with direct access to a pond?

There are no sites directly on ponds. You have to walk down a trail to them

I've read a lot of reviews and many say that some sites are fairly private and others are not. Can anyone provide insight into the best areas that will give more privacy? I'm hoping to have a little more room for the kids to run around. Thanks!!!

In general the sites away from the water and further out are larger and will be more private. Check out areas 6, 6x and 7.
