Grateful walking biking walking your dog and watching ships pass through the Cape Cod Canal. People cast the fishing lines in hopes of a nightly meal. Folks who live on the canal put lobster traps out for lunch.

We love to go fishing in Sandwich along the Cape Cod Canal. The striped bass were very plentiful this year. We bring our lunch with us and use the picnic tables that they have near the coast guard station. If you want to go out...More

This trip was done on a weekday, not weekend, which is probably advisable. The cruise was very well done, with the narration being first rate. Port and starboard there were unrelenting vistas to view. It would be well to watch the weather forecast in advance...More

I've been along the canal walkway multiple times. From running a few miles to taking a leisurely stroll with the family, this area epitomizes New England nautical nostalgia. Not only do salty, briny smells greet the nose, visitors to the area will see sea birds...More

How can one not enjoy spending time on the canal watching the water, boats, yachts and huge commercial vessels pass by. Usually there is a breeze on a warm sunny day making it more comfortable. Bring a chair and sit for awhile!

Walking the canal you can see Cormorants, Sea Gulls in flight or resting on the shores, and Dolphin in the water; Tug boats, fishing boats, tankers, luxury, small and medium sized yachts, sail boats of all sizes. Many people walk or bike ride the canal,...More

Until I stayed in the area, I never even knew of the existence of the Cape Cod Canal. On Highway 3, Exit 5, there is a commercial rest stop with a McDonald’s and a tourist bureau. At the latter you can get a brochure about...More

This canal has places to walk running parallel to it. It is a great place for walking or riding bikes as it is totally flat. Also, the canal itself provides something nice to look at as there are always boats of all sizes passing. We...More

I biked, ran or walked the Sagamore side path every day while camping at Scusset State Reservation. It's 7 miles long, paved and almost flat, with wonderful views all along the canal. Lots of wildlife, interesting boats and barges, a few places where you can...More
