This was an awesome experience- we took two of our young sons out (ages 6 & 8) and felt very safe not only because of the perfect location on Oyster River which was nice and calm as a place to learn, but also because of John who runs Chatham Kayak. He is knowledgeable and so friendly, and made us feel... More

Driving down to Chatham Kayak company it all looked a bit run down and unappealing but the selection of kayaks and boards was outstanding. Definitely the place to go whatever your skill level. Myself and 2 daughters (17 and 12) went out in single kayaks. The wind and tide were seriously against us for some of the time but we... More

The owner John is fantastic. Very down to earth and kind. He has a new helper who was on day2 when we went. Unfortunately the advice he gave about which way to go was rather dodgy and we ended up having to kayak further against the incoming tide than we would have planned for with two young children. However we... More

First and foremost, John, the owner of Chatham Kayak, is the man. He is a good-hearted guy who rescues ferrets, doesn't overcharge his customers, and works hard to keep a solid inventory of kayaks in great condition (don't even THINK about dragging it on the beach, ever! That's what the handle and gravity are for). We made a reservation but... More

I had an awesome experience with this company. John, who runs everything, is really quite the character. We rented out a tandem and a single for a few hours, and John and his helpers were very thorough in picking out the boats and preparing everything. They were very chill about everything, and we didn't feel rushed at all. Had plenty of... More

My boyfriend and I rented SUP boards for an hour and had a wonderful time paddling around the area. The views are beautiful, but the current can be incredibly strong. I don't think either of us was truly prepared for the exercise we ended up getting!! Maybe it was a bad day for it... not sure. Anyway, regardless of the... More

Great equipment, great location. We rented three times, kayaking oyster pond, stage harbour and out towards hardings beach. Brilliant fun, John's a real character and highly recommended.

Chatham Kayak Company is a fun place to visit with the kids for kayaking. They are right on the water and have kayaks for all ages. My Grandson who is 8, had a blast his first time and the kayak was just the right size for him. John and staff are very helpful in making sure everyone is safe and... More
