Built by Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks in 1637, the Fairbanks House is the oldest timber frame house in North America. Eight generations of Fairbanks have lived here until 1904 when it was opened to the public as a historic site and house museum filled with period furnishings owned by Fairbanks descendants. IMPORTANT: MUSEUM IS OPEN MAY 3rd THROUGH OCTOBER 29th.

The oldest original wood frame house standing in North America. The first part built in 1630 something, the docent guide was full of information about the house and family. An hour tour. Worth doing!

If you are from area easy to take for granted, but local group has done great job making worth a visit and especially if from area and you have family/friends unfamiliar with area and history.

Don't have to go very far for a piece of New England history. Very interesting tour, bringing you back to colonial times. A must for all ages.

The Fairbanks House, owned by the same family since it was built in the 1630s gives visitors an authentic view of life in colonial times. The curator's tour tells the family's stories. Be sure to duck your head in doorways!

People that work there are extremely knowledgable and very energetic. They kept all the third graders extremely engaged and interested in the tour.

Those interested in Colonial history and visiting Dedham, must see this timber frame house.Those also interested in traditional furniture, could be a subject of interest to them. It does not take much time and is quick tour. Photos can be taken from all angles.Very peaceful...More

Piece of American History right at your back door. Oldest woodframed house in the U.S.A. 1636. Realted to Fairbanks ,AK. Nice little tour, only 35 minutes.
