After reading the online description of this sanctuary, hubby & I were anticipating a really special place. As soon as we found it and parked, the place seemed run down. Like in a previous reviewer, perhaps being off-season and no upkeep, the sanctuary is massively...More

Although all the vegetation is dormant and no sign of animal activity this time of year, taking our first walk through the sanctuary was a nice relaxing experience. Trails are in good shape and well marked. We look forward to returning to see it in...More

Maybe it's off-season for Holly, and to be honest we didn't try to walk the entire Sanctuary, but pretty much all we saw was an awful lot of those terrible thorn bushes and some vine that was overtaking everything. On the plus side, the berries...More

My husband and I spent an hour walking the trails here in early April. There are so many cool holly trees, which we don't see too often. Very peaceful spot.

One Saturday afternoon my two teenage daughters, my husband and I hiked in this beautiful. Peaceful spot. We spent 45 minutes roaming around reasonably well marked trails, taking photos of scenery and ourselves and giggling at our own poor mapping skills and mostly enjoying having...More

Sweet spot for meandering through woods, around a pond, down lanes, and through a Holly Forrest, with spring flowers in bloom.

Great wide trails, we really enjoyed the foliage. I can imagine when the rhododendrums are blooming, it must be just beautiful. Even in March, we saw some crocuses poking their heads out!

We visited a few of the Audubon nature reserves and this was one of the best (the other good one was Long Pasture, avoid Skunknett as there is almost no water access or views) because of the lovely vistas, the access to the pond and...More
