For the city of Fitchburg to have such a gem of an art museum is really amazing. They not only have excellent exhibits, but also host community events, supporting this community. You can even have a wedding there! And they do art classes.

Art museum serving Fitchburg and surrounding communities with permanent colelctions and traveling shows. Contemporary changing exhibitions, organized by in-house and guest curators. Excellent multimedia display on Ancient Egypt burial practices - including mummies. Fascinating gallery about Museum founder Eleanor Norcross (1854-1923), an excellent artist in her own right who studied with American Impressionist William Merritt Chase and lived and worked... As you drive thru Fitchburg you see the buildings that are a little worn but as soon as you walk thru the doors into the museum you walk into a different world and I will repeat a world class walk, the painting and the rooms are filled with life and joy for each wonderful painting and art work, I must... The museum is small and has excellent permanent and temporary displays. I normally do not find Egyptian displays hold my interest. I spent about an hour and will go back. It is so well done. The African gallery is also very interesting and well done. There was a temporary photography exhibit on the first floor that was hot and cold... More

Although the museum is small and fairly compact, the displays are excellent. There are 3 major exhibit areas on two floors--Global Africa, Ancient Egypt, and the Eleanor Norcross exhibit. The quilts, pictures and the photography shown in the galleries are second to none. Further, if you're a AAA member, you pay for one admission and get one free. There is... More

Okay, let's be real. This is not worth a long drive but if you happen to be nearby you should definitely pop in. Loved the Eleanor Norcross exhibit, the quilts, and the African exhibit. Fitchburg looks what you would imagine a town devastated by the 2008 recession - and it hasn't recovered. Since I've never been there before, I don't... More

This museum does a wonderful display of arrangements. In addition they exhibit quilts with floral themes. They also sell plants during the Art in Bloom exhibit. It is very welcoming museum with... Small, but mighty! That depicts this museum perfectly. The staff is friendly and caring, and the displays are among the best!

Definitely come.check out this venture. The entrance is so cool and it has so many rooms! You go inside and it looks small but then as you walk it just keep a going! The exhibits are nice! Make sure you have at least an hour as you'll wanna walk through the whole place!
