We got the grand idea to walk the breakwater, then head to Long Point, and then to Wood End. And that was before we climbed Pilgrim Monument. After such an arduous trek, you can only imagine my glee that neither of these lighthouses are open to the public. Nevertheless, there is something to be said about finishing what you've started... This is a wonderful walk-hike to the light house. It takes about 45 minutes walking the break-water and then 30 minutes to get to the light house and the beach. Wonderful trip and beautiful views.

Wood End and Long Point Lighthouses are accessible via Provincetown's Breakwater Rock Passage, which is a sometimes treacherous path over huge, uneven boulders. The path is over a mile long, and it took us about an hour to reach land. The rocks are solidly in place, but there are often large gaps between them requiring sure-footedness. In addition, be wary... More

This light was illuminated in 1872 to provide assistance on the approach to Provincetown Harbor. We did not get to go close to it but just observe it from a distance.

As most people writing reviews have said, this is a great activity. It's definitely NOT for young children as the walk is long and can be strenuous. You walk along a jetty, which is made up of uneven boulders. Make sure you go at low tide and make sure to wear sturdy she's/sneakers. You want to make sure you have... More

My boyfriend and I completed the breakwater walk. Then wanted to go to the lighthouse. It is quite a walk but totally worth it! It was awesome walking through all the dunes! The Lighthouse is closed to visitors but you can take pictures next to it! I enjoyed going to this lighthouse and would return such a cool area!

Easiest to get to, compared to walk back from long point. The hike across the jetty is about 1 1/2 miles each way. Jetty is uneven, kids walk portions of it, some do more - I think its too difficult for kids the whole way

The causeway is a bit of a trek, but it is beautiful and secluded. We climbed up into the lighthouse. Make sure you have good shoes and wear sunscreen.

Lighthouse closed but the hike to it across the breakwater is worth it anyway. (Unless your main desire is to go inside a light house of course). My son and I had a great afternoon. The breakwater is 1.5 miles each way and it's another 1/3 mile to the lighthouse. You are bouldering across and stepping or jumping from rock... More

One of the outermost lights on the Cape, Wood End Light has been a beacon of light for a long time. It continues to draw the attention of boaters to the inherent dangers of shallow water while providing guidance into the Provincetown Harbor. Its squat ,white base and black cap project a sense of sturdy calm in the midst of... More
